The Nine Little Goblins  by JAMES WHITCOMB RILEY

27 October 2007
Vol. 7, No. 3
rhyme

They all climbed up on a high board fence—

Nine little Goblins, with green-glass eyes—

Nine little Goblins that had no sense,

And couldn't tell coppers from cold mince pies;

And they all climbed up on the fence, and sat—

And I asked them what they were staring at.

The Dead Dolly  by MARGARET VANDERGRIFT

31 August 2005

You needn't be trying to comfort me,

I tell you my Dolly is dead!

There's no use in saying she isn't

With a crack like that in her head.
