Orpheus and Eurydice, Entwined

Remember our reunification

along the infernal half of the Styx?

How we read each

other's recent torments, and

our eyes told the same

story—you don't want

                    to know, don't even ask.

Remember the wedding? When

Charon the best man fumbled

for the ring in his shroud,

and finding it proved even

                    a skull can express relief?

Remember our one-tongued

whispers a short moment ago? Hell

is the absence of memory, or

is it? Is this even Hell

anymore? If we're unable

to remember then we must repeat

constantly, I love you

every moment the moment

                    it's forgotten.
