A Day at the Beach
Oceans will turn guttural with the phlegmatic spats
of the feared. We say, "Revile or Rejoice!" as if
there was a choice in the matter. I turn to you;
our eyes are trying. Shrieks of seagulls marry
across the water. We take each other's hands and say
we are leaving because of the sand in our shorts.
