–mute–
a bean trapped in a bowl.
TV ads for new trucks
more horsepower, more durability, more torque.
a stranger, a near stranger
–unmute–
has left her toothbrush
in my bathroom sink.
it's lying there
balanced over the drain
in the other room,
its bristles splayed in every direction.
