to make or save money for praise to be
popular to escape pain to be in style
for cleanliness to avoid criticism to save
time to save energy for enjoyment to
conserve our possessions for affection
to gratify curiosity to be like persons
above us to satisfy a craving for the
beautiful

Danielle Aquiline is a graduate of Columbia College Chicago's MFA program in poetry. She teaches Composition at Columbia. Danielle is also an artist-in-residence with Chicago's Poetry Centers and enjoys taking poetry into elementary classrooms through this project.
