From Georgette (Without Regret)

This is the box I am putting you in:

Clamorous piano.

Vegetarian meathead.

Antibiotical.

Bird back.

Elephant hands.

Creamed prunes.

Humbug.

I have no steak with you.

In other words, nothing

between us has ever been

better than it was before

we went fishing inside

one another. I don't mean

to soil your agenda,

but I have skin thicker

than buffalo hide.

If our relationship

caused you any pain,

I would recommend

Western medicine.

It will probably heal better

than any dim apologies

sitting between

the rocks in my mouth.

I am crossing you off of my mind.

After all,

if I had let you marinate me

with your ancient recipe,

this letter would be blushing scarlet

and appear more fragile

than sparrow wings.
