Thomas Love Peacock

1785-1866. Thomas Love Peacock, born in Dorset England, in best known as a satirist for his plotless and philosophical novels. In addition to satire and novels, Peacock published volumes of verse, essays, and plays. In 1812, Peacock forged a friendship with Percy Bysshe Shelley. Over the following few years, Peacock and Shelley spent much time around each other, deeply influencing one another's work. He worked, much of his adult life, for the British East India Company in matters of finance, commerce, and public work.
