Acura MDX

Overview

Presenting the 2023 Acura MDX, with its dashing exterior and three rows of seats catering to your family's needs in a lavish manner. But that’s not all – this SUV has been expertly designed for those who prioritize performance too; whether it be the Type S or simply the standard 290-hp V-6 engine, you can expect rapid acceleration from an SUV at this size. The Acura MDX is truly versatile without ever compromising on quality!

Upgrade your experience with the Type S and enjoy a turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6, along with 355 horsepower and all-wheel drive as standard features. Step into the MDX’s cabin to find premium luxuries that just don't compare to those seen in cars like the Genesis GV80, Mercedes Benz GLE Class or Volvo XC90 - however, you could receive it at a much more sensible price tag and have an even more enjoyable time while driving!

Engine, Transmission, and Performance

The regular MDX is equipped with a 290-hp 3.5-liter V-6, coupled to a 10 speed automatic transmission, and front wheel drive comes standard; all wheel drive can be added as an extra feature. For those who crave more power, the Type S offers 355 horsepowers from its turbocharged 3.0 liter V-6 engine together with always on All Wheel Drive! Our test of an Advance model packed full features powered by the standard motor demonstrated impressive agility in handling plus dynamic acceleration - it's one ride you need to try out for yourself!

When we tested the Type S, we commended it for its agility and additional power. Yet, with this model being so capable of performance, is it actually deserving of the Type S badging? The response is unquestionably yes! In our track testing process, the Type S zoomed from 0-60 mph in only 5.5 seconds whereas its less powerful counterpart needed 6.4 seconds to reach that same speed mark - a full second faster than what was expected!

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

The base MDX boasts EPA fuel-economy ratings of 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. Opting for all-wheel drive reduces the highway rating by 1 mpg. On our 75-mph highway fuel-economy route, our all-wheel-drive A-Spec test vehicle delivered a disappointing 22 mpg. The Type S model did slightly better and returned a 23-mpg result. For more information about the MDX's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

Acura has been adding more and more standard driver-assistance tech to its cars, and the new MDX provides several desirable features. For more information about the MDX's crash-test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites.
