She Said
Try a sweeter martini,
flakes of a little dry laugh.
Make yourself a woodpecker's tongue.
Don't try to understand
your dreams. Dreams have a will
of their own. Our lives have
a will of their own.
What is this cave?
Go ahead & ask it.
Don't mince words.
My answer is yes
& yes, yes & no, no
& yes, & no & no.
There's always a war.
In this way, in that way.
In that way, in this way.
The eye's a weakness & love
Is very everything
Like fire: many things burning,
only one combustion.
Don't think for one fucking minute
I'm not broken-hearted.
But weep for me no more.
